How is GSM different?
GSM differs from the first wireless systems because of its use of digital technology and the way in which calls are transmitted through the air.
The GSM system was designed to have the highest level of security by scrambling the digitized voice transmission between the handset and the transmission site. The information needed to decode the encryption is hidden within a SIM card or “smart card,” providing what is today's most secure public wireless standard in the world.
